Certainly mason’s contribution to bill of rights is u questionable. But the architect I think Madison should get a little more credit than you give him. Madison’s objection to a bill of rights was that if a right was not enumerated in the bill would it be treated as right. Many today think that there is a right to an abortion, or a right to medical treatment but they are not enumerated in the constitution and not rights

Madison further thought the protections in the constitution limiting democracy and democratic despotism would serve to protect are god given rights

When Madison did agree with mason on including the bill of rights there was clearly no stronger champion

A Democratic Republic is a form of Democracy! So in essence we are a Democracy.

Stella I don’t want to sound rude but we are a constitutional republic not a democratic republic. Our constitution was specifically designed to limit democracy in fact constrain democracy to avoid mobacracy perhaps a civics class is in order

Out Bill of Rights is perhaps the most significant piece piece of legislation ever created. Its birth is a lesson our leaders today could well stand to learn from.

Amen! Thank you for this lesson in history. We all need it. I get tired of hearing the politicians refer to America as a democracy.
